Are Hankooks any good?
Everything is cheaper here except tires which are ludicrous expensive, and since the front left tire in my car has a huge hole down the sidewall, I need new tires..
I should buy a pair of new front tires, but given the current FR has 2800 miles on it, I wonder if I could cheap out and get a single new conti
FL tire...
If I did buy two new front tires, I wouldn’t buy contis again, I do want a thicker tire, even with the speed error (go from 225/40 to 235/40) I’d get the cheapest ones tho, which would be Hankook Ventus.
Given both left tires were damaged (RL has a bubble), I should probably change all four of them, but shelling so much money on tires in one sitting is out of the question I’m afraid.

2800 miles? Single Conti is better than a mismatched set, IMHO.

NO!
I have the Ventus S1 Noble Ultra High Performance All Seasons (Yeah, right) on my G. Wet grip is turruble, dry is good, kinda loud. Hardly 22,000 miles on them and they’re down to near 4/32 already.
I recommend Michellin or Continental High Performance/Ultra High performance if you’re going all seasons.

The issue is price, I’d happily jump on new Michelins, but those will probably cost 30 ,000 pesos plus fitting for the whole set , whereas the Hankooks would cost 13,000 pesos

I’m tempted to go that way, sole issue is that a single Conti SS5 is more expensive than two hankooks... but I’m getting bad reviews of the Hankooks... :/

If only tire rack shipped to Mexico... :/

Do you have a passport and are you within driving distance to the border? If so, drive across, get new tires and some lunch, and drive back.

Don’t cheap out on tires! Unless you’re only gonna be commuting on crappy urban roads. Then cheap out.

" Crappy urban roads” might as well be Mexico City’s motto.

Five hundred miles on a space saver might mess me up.

I’ve had good luck with Hankooks.

Nah.
Brother, if you knew the miles I traveled on a donut, with a bent shock, at speeds well in excess of the speed limit, while driving like the bulletproof teenager I once was... You’d tell me I was an absolute idiot, but you’d be downr ight shocked at what a space saver can handle.
But maybe borrow a spare spare.

Maybe I should change all four tires into space savers and THEN drift my way to America

I find it interesting that it offers exactly the speed and weight rating my car’s OEM set up has.

At the very least, put it on the rear if FWD. Lol

well, it’s a staggered setup, but only the front one crapped out on me

$1600 for a new set of tires?! Wow.
Even for my car it’s only half that for a set of OEM matching tires (which are high performance summers) and a set of Pilot Sport 4S tires are less than $1000 .

Well, I have no idea why they sell them for so much money... its essentially rubber with a pretty pattern. I called an assortment of shops and non of them would place ONE FUCKING TIRE for less than 10,000 pesos. The Kia Dealer is the worst offender, 12,000 !
Ironically, the cheapest shop is BMW... at 8000.

G ood luck getting it all sorted at a reasonable price, whichever route you happen to choose.

I think I’m buying one conti, and then putting a load of money on a piggybank for the eventual replacement of everything.. . for Michelins

I just got a set of the Hankooks for my Civic. It hasn’t rained yet, so I have no idea. They are a passable tire and better than the other tires in the price range, in my opinion. I cannot attest to wear, I’ve only had them about about three weeks though.
